"Les florentins étaient baptisés jusqu'à la fin du XIX è siècle, dans ce baptistère situé sur la place de la Cathédrale, en face de la Cathédrale Sainte Marie à la Fleur.
Il a été construit sur un temple romain dédié au dieu Mars au IVè siècle : c'est à cette époque une basilique consacré par Saint Ambroise.
Il est célèbre pour ses portes en bronze"

"The Florentine people were baptised until the end of the 19th century, in this baptistery situated in the Cathedral place, in front of Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral.
"It was build under a Roman house of prayer dedicated to Mars during the IVth centure : it was on this time a basilica consecrated by Saint Ambrose.
It's famous for its bronze doors."
